Calabasas is a highly affluent city located at the far west end of the San Fernando Valley, south and west of Hidden Hills, west of Woodland Hills, east of Agoura Hills and north of Malibu. The Upper Las Virgenes Open Space Preserve and Cheseboro Palo Comado Canyons are to the northwest of Calabasas.  Perez Peak is to the north.  Protecting the environment and preserving open space has been a major priority for the city which is located partly within the Santa Monica Mountains. The population was 23,049 at the 2010 census. The Las Virgenes Unified School District is one of the highest ranked districts in the United States.

Old Town Calabasas

Old Town Calabasas, also referred to as Downtown Calabasas, brings a taste of the old west to the City of Calabasas in the west San Fernando Valley. Located along Calabasas Road, west of The Commons, Old Town Calabasas features the historic Leonis Adobe and Museum, plus a large selection of unique shops and fine restaurants, all within walking distance from the Calabasas Civic Center and Library. Calabasas Country Club, established 1968, is a private member-owned golf and social club located on Park Entrada in Calabasas.


Calabasas Lake

Calabasas Lake is owned and maintained by the Calabasas Park Homeowners Association which is a 2,800 member master association. Membership in the Calabasas Park Homeowners Association entitles its members to use the lake and green belt areas.

Calabasas Peak Trail

Calabasas Peak in the Santa Monica Mountains reaches 2,163 feet and offers excellent views of Calabasas, the San Fernando Valley, the Santa Monica Mountains, and the San Gabriel Mountains. The trailhead is off of Stunt Road in Calabasas.


Agoura Hills - Calabasas Community Center

The Agoura Hills - Calabasas Community Center is a 30,000 square foot recreational facility developed as a joint venture by the cities of Agoura Hills and Calabasas. It includes extensive fitness facilities and a large banquet hall for special events and rentals. The community center offers a variety of recreational, social, cultural, and educational programs and activities to meet the needs of the community.


Calabasas Tennis and Swim Center

The Calabasas Tennis and Swim Center, established in 1969, is owned by the City of Calabasas. The center offers tennis, swimming, a fitness center, banquet facilities, and numerous activities throughout the year.


Calabasas Civic Center Amphitheatre

The Calabasas Civic Center Amphitheatre, sometimes referred to as the Calabasas Outdoor Amphitheatre, is a small, high quality venue located between Calabasas City Hall and the Library. Admission and parking is free, but seating is limited to about 150 people. The Calabasas Commons is walking distance and provides many high quality restaurants in all price ranges.

The Commons at Calabasas is an upscale retail and entertainment center in Calabasas which is at the west end of the San Fernando Valley between Woodland Hills and Agoura Hills which is in the Conejo Valley. Las Virgenes View Park in Calabasas is located in the Santa Monica Mountains at the intersection of Mulholland Highway and Las Virgenes Road. The Calabasas Park HOA (CPHA) represents over 2,800 homes in Calabasas and is the master association for Calabasas Park. CPHA represents 17 sub-associations and is the governing body for nearly 400 homes located around Calabasas Lake. CPHA members are entitled to access the area surrounding Calabasas Lake, including the greenbelt areas, and more than two miles of walking and jogging paths.

Juan Batista de Anza Park - Calabasas

Juan Batista de Anza Park is a large community park in Calabasas that serves as the site of the annual Calabasas Pumpkin Festival. The park can accommodate hundreds of visitors, and features a large multipurpose room, conference room, lighted basketball courts, lighted roller hockey court, several covered picnic areas, and plenty of open space. The park is used regularly for company picnics, holiday gatherings, birthday parties, and company retreats. Space is available for rent by the city of Calabasas.


Gates Canyon Park - Calabasas

Gates Canyon Park is a 7 acre park in Calabasas that features playground equipment designed for children with disabilities as well as children without disabilities. The park also includes uncovered picnic areas, barbeques, a fitness course, basketball court, tennis courts, and a large open grass area. Gates Canyon Park is a great location for company picnics.

Gates Canyon, which is adjacent to Gates Canyon Park, is a valley north and east of Calabasas and north of the Ventura 101 Freeway.


Freedom Park

Freedom Park is a secluded 1.7 acre community park located at the intersection of Parched Drive and Balcony Drive in Calabasas. It features fountains and a children’s play area, and is a great location for picnics, parties, and family events. It is truly a beautiful place with lots of green open space and shade trees.


Wild Walnut Park

Wild Walnut Park is a ten acre community park located at Mulholland Highway and Old Topanga Canyon Road in Calabasas. The beautiful park offers a walking trail, a picnic grove, and lots of trees and natural open space.


Leonis Adobe Museum - Calabasas

The Leonis Adobe Museum, built in 1844 and located in the San Fernando Valley city of Calabasas, is one of the oldest surviving homes in Los Angeles County. It was occupied by Miguel Leonis until his death in 1889 and was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1975. Today, the property operates as a living museum.


Plummer House - Calabasas

In 1983, the Plummer House, constructed in 1874, was relocated from West Hollywood to the grounds of the Leonis Adobe Museum in Calabasas. The home had fallen into disrepair and was at risk of being destroyed. After being moved to Calabasas, it was restored and is now being used as a visitor center and gift shop for the Leonis Adobe Museum.


Calabasas Historical Society

The Calabasas Historical Society, established in 1979, is dedicated to promoting and preserving the history of Calabasas and the surrounding area through education, preservation, and various programs. Programs offered include organized tours, displays, special guest presentations, and other special events. Local displays are found in many of the public libraries in the west San Fernando Valley and Malibu Creek State Park.

Calabasas Fine Arts Festival

The Calabasas Arts Council

The Calabasas Fine Arts Festival is held annually in April or May at the Commons at Calabasas and the Calabasas Civic Center, and is sponsored by The Calabasas Arts Council. The event features more than 150 painters, sculptors, jewelers, glass artists, potters, photographers, woodworkers, and other artists. Exhibitors travel from all over the Western United States to showcase and sell their art. Admission and parking is free. It is an excellent event definitely worth visiting.




Calabasas Creek or Arroyo Calabasas is a seven mile long tributary of the Los Angeles River.
