Malibu Lagoon


Malibu Lagoon is an estuary at the mouth of Malibu Creek in Malibu. Malibu Lagoon is part of the Santa Monica Bay and Pacific Ocean. Malibu Lagoon, now Malibu Lagoon State Beach, formerly known as Surfrider Beach, is a world-class surfing beach located near the Malibu Pier.


Malibu Creek Watershed

The Malibu Creek Watershed is located in the northwest section of Los Angeles County. It is bounded on the north, west, and east by the Santa Monica Mountains and on the south by the Pacific Ocean. The watershed area is approximately 109 square miles. Its major tributaries are Las Virgenes Creek, Triunfo Creek, and Cold Creek. The watershed is comprised of all or parts of Agoura Hills, Calabasas, Malibu, Thousand Oaks, Westlake Village, and unincorporated areas in Los Angeles County, and Ventura County.


Heal the Bay - Santa Monica

Heal the Bay is a non-profit environmental advocacy organization based in Santa Monica that is dedicated to protecting the Santa Monica Bay which extends from Point Dume to the Palos Verdes Peninsula. Heal the Bay operates the Santa Monica Pier Aquarium which was previously known as the Ocean Discovery Center.
