Occidental College



Occidental College, founded in 1887, is a 120 acre private liberal arts college located in the Eagle Rock community of Los Angeles. The college is also known as "Oxy" and promotes itself as a progressive institution. There are 31 majors offered on campus and students can take courses at California Institute of Technology in nearby Pasadena at no additional cost. Art majors at Oxy can take courses at the Art Center College of Design in Pasadena. Famous alumni include former Congressman Pete McCloskey, former Housing Secretary, Congressman, and Vice Presidential candidate, Jack Kemp; and President Barack Obama.
