Winnetka, founded in 1922 by Charles Weeks, is a lower middle income community of the San Fernando Valley region of Los Angeles with a population exceeding 56,000. Winnetka was once part of the incorporated city of Owensmouth which was annexed by the City of Los Angeles in 1930. Chatsworth is to the north, Woodland Hills and Warner Center are to the south, Canoga Park is to the west, and Reseda is to the east. The Los Angeles River flows through Winnetka.
